If you are a teacher currently residing in Canada

The Institute will require you to provide a certified copy of a national police certificate issued by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and not by local/provincial police services.  You must have your fingerprints taken on form C-216C at your local police station in Canada. In the 'Reason for Application' section of the fingerprint form select the 'Vulnerable Sector' option.

For more information on obtaining a police certificate through the RCMP, please refer to www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

For more information on qualifications for teacher registration in Victoria, read the Qualification for Teacher Registration Policy 2011 (PDF - 100KB). These policies came into effect in November 2002, with updates approved by the Institute Council in October 2010.

Applicants should note that the Qualification for Teacher Registration Policy will change on 1 April 2012.

All persons applying after 1 April 2012 will be subject to the 2012 policy.

All prospective applicants for registration should read the Qualification for Teacher Registration Policy 2012 (PDF - 96  KB)
